Crafts are an excellent activity to do with your kids, plus they’ll be involved with a healthy outlet and it’s genuine fun. It’s a fact that kids love to create art, and it really doesn’t matter what the medium is. On the other hand, not all parents like getting involved with crafts. But what are some possibilities as to why? Maybe they hate the mess, or if not the mess it’s the cleaning-up part. They choose other activities because crafts take time. You never know, it could be as simple as needing specialized tools and equipment; for example, left-handed scissors. Crafts really are the last thing that deserve to cause stress, or even take up too much of your time. So we have a few tips so your crafting is more enjoyable for everyone.
Protect the space in which you will be doing your crafts. So that simply means to lay down something to protect the floor or table and other furniture. When you’re done, just think about how much quicker it will be to take care of the mess? You never know, it can keep things like tools and left-handed scissors from getting lost under something and being MIA for weeks, or months, maybe years! It will be a lot easier to keep track of where everything is and your kids will learn to be careful, as well. Just imagine that when you’re all done everything is right there, and you can scoop it up and throw it away.
Try not to rush the project. Your kids need to do things independently.
Let your children experience the independence you already enjoy when they complete a project on their own. If your kids are moving slow don’t get involved they will figure it out even if it takes a little longer than it would if you did help. It is important, though, that you let her take her time and do the project herself. It takes longer this way, yes, but your daughter will be so proud of what she made “all by herself”! Try to be patient. You patience will help make craft time more fun for everyone.
Crafts plus children plus liquids equals spills – it’s going to happen. You never know, someone will be cutting with those left-handed scissors, and then something gets knocked over and spilled. The more calm you are about the unexpected mistakes, the more calm your kids will be. Just try to be understanding because getting upset just kind of ruins the purpose of crafting with your kids. Just clean up the spill and return to having fun. Keeping everybody happy when you work on crafts can be a challenge. There’s a lot to take into consideration. The key to making craft time a happy time is to prepare for it. Do you have left-handed children, if so – be sure to get left-handed scissors. Make sure everyone has enough room to work. Anything extra such as supplies just in case. The most important thing is to always have a great time while crafting with your kids.
