I have this gold coin?

I have a gold coin (or at least i think its gold) and have no idea what it says… It’s got Japanese writing (or at least I think its Japanese) on it, it’s more like impression-ed. Does any one have any knowledge on it or is there a decent website that i can look at…

Please no funny jokers just trying to get points – seriously it just shows how empty headed you are… Thanks

Can you take a digital photo? Then email it to Spinks or Sothebys or another well known auction house and ask for their advice

PS don’t take it to scrap it (melt it down) until you have discovered what it is, it may be real treasure!

Take the coin to a reputable coin dealer and inquire. Don’t let go the coin. After you find out from one coin dealer, find another coin dealer and do the same. If both of them say the same thing in evaluating the value, you have a reasonable assurance that the value would be as they describe.

If it is impossible to identify it, you could melt it down as it would be worth more as solid gold than an historic artifact.

I was going to give you a serious response but I don’t really care for the attitude so never mind. Btw, I think it shows how empty headed you are for not having a clue about what you own and expecting people here to have an answer without even seeing it. That’s just silly, girlie. Take it to a coin dealer. There’s a serious response for ya;-)

Hey JRome3 there is no need to be a jerk. She just doesn’t want people to spam her. I think you are empty headed for "answering" her question by verbally assaulting her. You don’t have to be snotty because she isn’t an archaeological expert. Not everyone is as "smart" as you.

Worth getting a valuation. You might also want to Research its history, If it came from your grand parents etc, did any of them travel to Japan in years past etc

    Check out this link:

There are further links on this page re older Japanese coins…
If you are able to identify your coin you could check out ebay / coin dealer websites to see what others are selling for.

It will be worth more as a coin then melted down !!!
