worth about say £90 pounds in reasonable condition maybe!.but get an expert opinion, pawnbroker, for .instance.
current price of gold, £328 per ounce approximately.
Im not convinced that 1899 is particular rare, when I worked in the industry most of the full sovereigned’s tended to be 1899/1900/1901
I don’t know the current value because I am not up to date with it all now but they used to sell for £150…..I would just hang on to it, I dont think they have increased in value loads since the 90′s…
some may toss up fakes too . beware

1899 is not rare, we still have them in Oz
take it to a specialist jewellers. they’ll value it and give you a certificate (small fee)

Make sure you don’t mount it cause it ruins it
