My pound coin from 1983. If you put it queens face upwards the writing on the side is upside down.
However with all the other pound coins I have found the writing is other way around.

Sir, not 2 b rude, but coins especially pounds/ U.S. coins that are created in 1960s to now r consist of modern coins, not rare. For example, if it was a U.S. quarter from 1776 (super rare) – early 1940s (rare), then its RARE. Or if its a U.S. penny that was made from the late 1800s to late 1940s, then datz definately rare (since the looks of pennies are changed every 40 to 50 years).
I have one the same.
It is a fake…look at more £1 coins. Is the engraving on the back at an angle to the queens head?
My guess would be it’s just a poorly made fake. But not 100% on that one…
I am not completely familiar with this subject, but most British coins are minted in what is known as medal alignment. You describe a coin in coin alignment, or the standard alignment in the United States. There is a fairly rare error known as a rotated die where the dies are partially rotated during minting, and rarely would they be exactly 180 degrees off. I would recommend finding another 1983 pound coin for comparison; failing that, you could take it to a coin dealer or two for an evaluation. Please read the article in the link below. I hope that helped.
it sounds like a total fake, me & a friend wer just talking about fake pound coins the other week. can i guess, does the pound have what looks like two lions holding onto a small shield facing each other or something like that(like a coat of arms)? i dont have a pound on me that im trying to discribe but i done my best.
Oh, get another coin & rub it hard against the face of the pound coin, if it starts to show up silver or bits scrape off(like a piece of led or solder), its 100% fake, also check the wrighting on the side, it should be clear. i know theres a few differrent types of fake pounds coz iv had a few
I have a pound coin that has no queens head is it rare?
